Reading Detective: Lesson 1A Word Helpers
When children hit an unfamiliar word, most do one of two things — skip it or guess. Both cost marks. This lesson teaches the Helper Squad strategy: four clue-finding techniques that use the words already surrounding the mystery word to unlock its meaning. Three differentiated practice question sets at Foundation, Core and Extension level build the skill independently after the lesson.
